The All-on-4 Method
Fixed Teeth on 4 Implants
Losing all your teeth or wearing uncomfortable and unstable removable dentures poses a great challenge to quality of life. Fortunately, modern dentistry offers a revolutionary solution that can restore a patient’s smile and self-confidence in just one day. At Dental Škaričić clinic, we are proud to offer All-on-4, a concept that has changed the lives of thousands of patients worldwide.
What Exactly Is the All-on-4 Method?
All-on-4 is a surgical and prosthetic method in which an entire dental arch of one jaw is fixed onto just four strategically placed dental implants. The key to this innovation lies in the way the implants are positioned. Two front implants are placed parallel, while the two back implants are placed at an angle, typically 45 degrees.
This angled position of the back implants allows for maximum use of the remaining bone and, most importantly, often eliminates the need for complex and time-consuming procedures like bone augmentation or sinus lifts.
Who Are the Ideal Candidates for All-on-4?
This concept is an ideal solution for patients who:
• Have lost all or most of their teeth in one or both jaws.
• Have teeth in very poor condition that are scheduled for extraction.
• Wear a removable denture and want a permanent, fixed solution they don’t have to take out.
• Have a certain degree of bone loss, making them unsuitable candidates for traditional placement of a larger number of implants without prior augmentation.
Main Advantages of the All-on-4 Concept
Compared to other methods, All-on-4 offers a number of significant advantages:
• Speed and Efficiency: This is also known as the “teeth in a day” concept. On the day of the implant placement, the patient receives a temporary fixed bridge and goes home with a new, functional smile.
• Less Invasive Procedure: The placement of only four implants means a simpler and shorter surgical procedure and faster recovery for the patient.
• Avoids Bone Augmentation: Smart positioning of the implants in most cases avoids additional surgical procedures, which reduces treatment time and cost.
• Superior Stability and Function: The fixed bridge provides complete stability when eating and speaking, restoring function that is almost identical to that of natural teeth.
• More Affordable Solution: A smaller number of implants and the avoidance of additional surgeries make All-on-4 a more financially accessible solution than placing a larger number of implants per jaw.
What Does the Procedure Look Like at Our Clinic?
The procedure is carefully planned to be as comfortable and efficient as possible for the patient.
1. Consultation and Planning: The first step is a detailed examination and analysis of a 3D CBCT scan. Based on the scan, our oral surgeon, Dr. sc. Josip Škaričić, creates a precise treatment plan tailored to your specific situation.
2. Surgical Procedure: In a single visit, any remaining teeth are extracted (if necessary), and the four implants are placed. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and is completely painless.
3. Placement of the Temporary Fixed Bridge: A few hours after the procedure, a temporary bridge is fixed to the implants.
4. Healing Period: A 3-month period follows during which the implants fuse with the bone (osseointegration).
5. Creation of the Permanent Prosthetic Work: Once the implants have healed, the temporary bridge is replaced with a permanent one, which is made from high-quality materials and is aesthetically and functionally superior to alternative options.
The All-on-4 method is not just a tooth replacement; it’s a complete rehabilitation that restores a smile, function, and improves quality of life.
